Why the Interior Light Being ON Doesn't Mean the Fridge Works

The interior light bulb is wired on a completely independent switch from the cooling circuit. Having light only confirms electricity is reaching the wall outlet.

1. Thick Dust on Condenser Coils

Located on the rear or underneath the refrigerator, condenser coils dissipate heat absorbed from inside. When pet hair and kitchen grime coat the coils, the compressor overheats and shuts off on thermal overload.

2. Faulty Compressor Start Relay (Clicking Sound)

If you hear a distinct clicking sound from the back of the fridge every 2-3 minutes followed by silence, the compressor start relay has burned out. Replacing this ₹300-₹500 part restores cooling immediately.

3. Evaporator Fan Motor Jammed with Ice

In frost-free refrigerators, a small fan circulates cold air from the freezer down into the fresh food section. If a defrost timer fails, thick frost blocks the fan blades, stopping air circulation.
