Stop Your Washing Machine from Walking Across the Floor

Front-load and top-load washing machines spin at 800 to 1400 RPM. At those speeds, even a slight imbalance creates tremendous centrifugal force, causing loud banging and aggressive shaking.

1. Uneven Leveling Feet

All four rubber feet must make firm, flat contact with the floor. Use a spirit level app on your smartphone on top of the washer. Rotate the adjustable threaded feet until there is zero rock or wobble.

2. Unbalanced Laundry Load

Washing a single heavy bedsheet with lightweight shirts causes the clothes to clump together on one side of the drum. Always wash heavy items in pairs to distribute weight evenly.

3. Worn Shock Absorbers (Dampers)

Underneath front-load washing drums are hydraulic or friction shock absorbers. If one damper snaps or leaks fluid, the drum bounces against the metal cabinet with a loud thumping noise.
